Levobupivacaine + propofol is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily in anesthesia. Levobupivacaine is a long-acting amide-type local anesthetic that works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels on neuronal membranes, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse conduction and providing regional or local anesthesia[6]. Propofol is an intravenous sedative-hypnotic agent used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia or sedation; it acts as a positive allosteric modulator at the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system[2][8][10]. The combination may be employed during surgical procedures to provide both regional analgesia (from levobupivacaine) and sedation or general anesthesia (from propofol).
