Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Levofloxacin + linezolid is a combination of two antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections. Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication. Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, preventing the formation of the 70S initiation complex. This combination has been studied for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and other serious bacterial infections.
