levomilnacipran

Levomilnacipran is a small molecule antidepressant classified as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It is primarily used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Levomilnacipran works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, increasing their levels in the central nervous system. It has higher selectivity for norepinephrine reuptake inhibition compared to serotonin, with over 15-fold greater potency at the norepinephrine transporter. Levomilnacipran does not significantly bind to other receptors or ion channels and does not inhibit monoamine oxidase[2][3][5]. The drug was developed as an enantiomer of milnacipran.
