Overview

Jadelle is a long-acting, reversible contraceptive implant system consisting of two flexible cylindrical rods that are inserted subdermally in the upper arm. Each implant contains 75 mg of levonorgestrel (total 150 mg), which is slowly released into the bloodstream to prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years. The implants work through multiple mechanisms: primarily by preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm entry, and thinning the uterine lining to reduce chances of implantation.
