Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Levopront** is a brand name for levodropropizine, a peripherally acting antitussive agent used for the symptomatic treatment of non-productive (dry) cough in adults and children over 2 years or weighing more than 30 kg. It exhibits both antitussive and bronchodilatory effects through modulation of sensory neuropeptides in the respiratory tract, inhibiting neuropeptide release from C-fibers in airway sensory nerves without central nervous system depression or opioid-related side effects like constipation or respiratory depression. Developed by Dompé farmaceutici and available as 60 mg tablets or 30 mg/5 mL syrup, it is indicated for cough associated with upper/lower respiratory infections, lung cancer, or whooping cough, with dosing of 60 mg three times daily for up to 7 days orally.[1][2][7][9][12]
