Overview

Levorag Emulgel is a topical medical device (Class 1) developed for the treatment of chronic anal fissures. It is a multi-ingredient formulation containing myoxinol, a botanical extract from *Hibiscus esculentus* with botox-like muscle relaxant properties, and carboxymethyl glucan, a yeast-derived polysaccharide that modulates the immune response and promotes tissue repair. The product is designed to reduce anal sphincter hypertonia and support the healing of the anal mucosa. Clinical studies, including the TOCA trial led by Bispebjerg Hospital, have demonstrated its non-inferiority to 2% diltiazem gel in healing rates and symptom relief. It is typically applied twice daily for a period of 8 weeks.
