Levorx-M

Levorx-M is a fixed-dose combination medication containing levocetirizine dihydrochloride and montelukast sodium, marketed by SBM Enterprises (SBM Pharmaceuticals) as a finished pharmaceutical formulation. Levocetirizine is a second-generation, non-sedating antihistamine that acts as a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H1 receptors, effectively inhibiting the effects of histamine to reduce symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and ocular itching. Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that specifically blocks the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLT1), thereby inhibiting the inflammatory actions of leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4) which are associated with airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity in allergic conditions. This combination is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (both seasonal and perennial) and is often used in patients where comorbid asthma is present, providing a synergistic approach to managing both histamine- and leukotriene-mediated allergic responses.
