LFnp24 is a recombinant fusion protein vaccine candidate developed by Beijing Youan Hospital for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. The vaccine consists of the HIV-1 p24 capsid protein fused to the N-terminal domain of the Bacillus anthracis lethal factor (LFn). This LFn domain acts as a molecular delivery vehicle, facilitating the translocation of the p24 antigen directly into the cytosol of antigen-presenting cells (APCs). By bypassing the standard endosomal degradation pathway, the p24 antigen is efficiently processed and presented via MHC class I molecules, thereby inducing a potent CD8+ cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response. This strategy is designed to enhance cellular immunity against HIV-1, which is often poorly stimulated by conventional protein-based vaccines.
