Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LH-1801 is a novel, small molecule sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor being developed by Jiangsu Lianhuan Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a Class 1 innovative drug in China, LH-1801 works by selectively inhibiting the SGLT2 proteins located in the proximal convoluted tubules of the kidneys. This inhibition prevents the reabsorption of filtered glucose back into the bloodstream, thereby promoting urinary glucose excretion and lowering plasma glucose levels in an insulin-independent manner. Clinical development of LH-1801 includes Phase 1 trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as specific pharmacokinetic studies in subjects with hepatic impairment to guide dosing in special populations.
