Overview

LH4049 is a small molecule inhibitor of the intermediate conductance calcium-activated potassium channel (KCa3.1), also known as the IK channel. Developed by Saniona, the compound is currently in the IND-enabling phase for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other chronic inflammatory conditions. KCa3.1 channels are expressed on various immune cells, including T-cells and macrophages, where they regulate calcium signaling and cellular activation. By blocking these channels, LH4049 aims to suppress the inflammatory response and reduce tissue damage in the gastrointestinal tract. The program originated from Saniona's proprietary ion channel library and is currently available for out-licensing or partnership.
