Overview

LHACM (Lyophilized Human Amnion/Chorion Membrane) is a biological tissue allograft derived from human placental tissue, specifically processed to retain the amnion, chorion, and the intermediate layer. Developed by MiMedx using a modified PURION process, LHACM is thicker and more hygroscopic than traditional dehydrated grafts, which enhances its handling characteristics during clinical application. The graft contains a complex array of regulatory proteins, including growth factors and cytokines, that facilitate wound healing by promoting dermal fibroblast proliferation and modulating key regenerative pathways such as TGFβ and Wnt/β-catenin. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of chronic, nonhealing diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), as seen in the Phase 3 CAMPAIGN clinical trial.
