LHW090

LHW090 is a small molecule neprilysin (neutral endopeptidase, also known as enkephalinase) inhibitor developed by Novartis. It was investigated primarily for the treatment of resistant hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Neprilysin inhibition increases levels of natriuretic peptides, which can promote vasodilation and natriuresis, thereby lowering blood pressure. Clinical trials demonstrated that adjunctive use of LHW090 safely lowered blood pressure in patients with resistant hypertension, with dose-dependent reductions in systolic blood pressure observed after four weeks of treatment. The drug was generally well-tolerated without significant safety concerns or increased risk of kidney injury compared to placebo. Despite promising results in early-phase studies, development for these indications has been discontinued[2][3][4][6][8].
