Overview
Li Zhong Pill is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula traditionally used to warm the middle jiao and tonify the spleen and stomach. It typically consists of four herbal ingredients: *Panax ginseng* (Ren Shen), *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Bai Zhu), *Zingiber officinale* (Gan Jiang), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Zhi Gan Cao). In clinical research conducted by Hong Kong Baptist University, Li Zhong Pill is being evaluated as part of a syndrome-differentiated treatment approach for perimenopausal syndrome (PMS). It is specifically applied to patients identified with a 'spleen and kidney yang deficiency' pattern, often used in conjunction with Yougui Pill. The treatment is administered in the form of herbal granules and aims to alleviate symptoms such as hot flushes, insomnia, and mood swings by addressing the underlying constitutional imbalance and stabilizing the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis.
