Overview

Liangge is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula, typically administered as a granule or decoction, developed and researched by Shuguang Hospital (affiliated with Shanghai University of TCM) for the treatment of sepsis-associated acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI). Based on the classic "Liangge San" (Cool the Diaphragm Powder), the formulation consists of multiple herbal ingredients including Forsythia suspensa, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Rheum palmatum. Its mechanism of action involves a multi-target anti-inflammatory response, specifically the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, as well as the downregulation of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. Furthermore, Liangge is used to protect the intestinal mucosal barrier, reduce bacterial translocation, and modulate gut microbiota in patients suffering from sepsis and systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).
