Overview

It is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in patients exhibiting the "Qi and Yin deficiency" pattern. The formulation typically consists of botanical extracts, often centered around *Coptis chinensis* (Huanglian) and *Prunus mume* (Wumei), which are traditionally used in Chinese medicine to clear heat and nourish fluids. The drug has undergone Phase II clinical testing in China (e.g., CTR20191646) to evaluate its efficacy and safety in improving glycemic control over a 12-week treatment period in adults who are either drug-naïve or have had minimal prior treatment for diabetes.
