Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Libramed is a medical device, often categorized as a nutraceutical or dietary supplement, developed by Aboca for the treatment of overweight, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. It is formulated with Policaptil Gel Retard, a patented complex of polysaccharide macromolecules derived from plants. When ingested, Libramed forms a highly viscous gel in the gastrointestinal tract that acts as a physical barrier, slowing the absorption of dietary carbohydrates and lipids. This mechanism helps to flatten postprandial blood glucose and insulin curves, thereby reducing lipogenesis and promoting satiety. It is indicated for adults and children over 8 years of age to assist in weight management and the reduction of waist circumference.
