licaminlimab

Licaminlimab is a topical single-chain antibody fragment that targets and inhibits tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα). It is being developed primarily for ophthalmic use, notably in dry eye disease (DED) and non-infectious anterior uveitis. Licaminlimab represents a novel approach as the first biologic shown to have a treatment effect on intraocular conditions via topical ocular application. Its mechanism of action involves neutralizing TNFα, thereby reducing inflammation at the ocular surface or within the eye. The drug has demonstrated efficacy in multiple Phase 2 trials for both DED and uveitis, with favorable safety and tolerability profiles. Development is led by Oculis Pharma under license from ESBATech, with Alcon also involved in earlier development stages[2][3][4][5][10].
