Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liceko is an EU Class 1 medical device developed by Panin S.r.l. for the treatment of head louse infestation (pediculosis capitis). Its active ingredient is tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), formulated as a dry oil spray. Unlike traditional chemical pediculicides, Liceko operates through a physical mechanism of action by suffocating head lice, achieving a high kill rate (approximately 100% in 20 minutes). This physical mechanism prevents the development of resistance in lice populations. Clinical studies, including a randomized controlled trial in the UK, have demonstrated its efficacy compared to standard treatments like 1% permethrin. Additionally, the product functions as a hair conditioner and scalp soother and is considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
