Licener

Licener is a topical shampoo developed by HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL for the treatment of head lice infestations (pediculosis). Its active ingredient is a neem extract derived from the de-oiled seeds of the neem tree (*Azadirachta indica*). Unlike chemical insecticides, Licener works through a physical mechanism of action: washing-active substances facilitate the entry of neem polyphenols into the breathing openings (spiracles) of the lice, leading to rapid suffocation. Additionally, the shampoo causes lice eggs (nits) to dry out and die. It is characterized by a single-application treatment protocol with a 10-minute exposure time and has shown high efficacy without the development of resistance. It is classified as a medical device in Germany.
