Overview

Licogliflozin + tropifexor is an investigational oral fixed-dose combination therapy developed for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and liver fibrosis. Licogliflozin is a dual sodium-glucose cotransporter 1 and 2 (SGLT1/2) inhibitor, which reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidney and intestine, leading to improved glycemic control and potential metabolic benefits. Tropifexor is a potent farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist that modulates bile acid metabolism, inflammation, and fibrosis pathways in the liver. The combination aims to address both metabolic dysfunction and fibrotic progression in NASH by targeting complementary mechanisms. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy, safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and drug-drug interactions in adults with NASH with stage 2 or 3 fibrosis[4][5][6][9].
