Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Lidbree** is a proprietary thermo-gelling intrauterine gel formulation containing **lidocaine 42 mg/ml** designed for topical anesthesia during cervical and intrauterine gynecological procedures, such as intrauterine device placement, hysteroscopy, and cervical/endometrial biopsies, in adults and adolescents from 15 years of age. It employs a novel lidocaine delivery technology that allows the gel to adhere to mucosal surfaces of the cervical canal and uterus, providing rapid pain relief within 5 minutes by blocking sodium channels to inhibit nerve signal conduction in superficial pain nerves. Developed over 40 years of research led by Professor Gunvor Ekman-Ordeberg at Karolinska Institute, Lidbree has received national marketing authorizations in the UK and multiple EU Economic Area states through a decentralized procedure, addressing unmet needs in women's health by enabling effective local analgesia where none was previously routine.[1][2][3]
