Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xylocream is a topical local anesthetic cream containing a eutectic mixture of lidocaine (2.5%) and prilocaine (2.5%). Developed and marketed by Verisfield, it is approved for inducing temporary local anesthesia (numbing) of intact skin or genital mucous membranes prior to minor medical, surgical, or aesthetic procedures (such as needle insertions, skin grafts, laser hair removal, or dermal fillers). Both active ingredients are amide-type local anesthetics that work by reversibly blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in peripheral sensory nerve fibers, thereby preventing the generation and conduction of pain signals.
