Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kami-gel (Compound Chamomile and Lidocaine Gel) is a topical combination pharmaceutical product containing the local anesthetic lidocaine and chamomile flower extract. It is designed to provide rapid pain relief and reduce inflammation in mucosal tissues. While traditionally used for oral conditions such as gingivitis and mouth sores, it is also utilized in anesthesia to coat endotracheal tubes, thereby reducing the incidence and severity of postoperative sore throat (POST), hoarseness, and cough in pediatric and adult patients. Lidocaine functions by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels to inhibit nerve impulse conduction, while the chamomile components (such as bisabolol and chamazulene) exert anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.
