Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lidocaine + tramadol is a combination medication used for pain management. The combination leverages the complementary mechanisms of both drugs to provide enhanced analgesia. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause pain, while tramadol is a centrally acting analgesic with dual mechanisms: μ-opioid receptor agonism and inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. Studies have shown that this combination may provide better pain control than either agent alone in various clinical settings, including periprostatic nerve blocks for prostate biopsies and intraperitoneal administration for post-operative pain management.
