LifeStem's dendritic cell-based tumor vaccine is an autologous cell therapy under development for the treatment of malignant glioma. This cancer immunotherapy involves the extraction of a patient's own dendritic cells, which are then primed or loaded with tumor-specific antigens. Once re-administered to the patient, these activated dendritic cells act as professional antigen-presenting cells, stimulating a targeted T-cell-mediated immune response against the glioma cells. The goal of this vaccine is to harness the patient's immune system to recognize and eliminate malignant cells while potentially establishing long-term immunological memory to prevent recurrence.
