Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ATI-1501 (LIKMEZ) is a taste-masked, liquid oral suspension formulation of the antibiotic metronidazole. It was developed to provide an alternative for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules, such as children and the elderly. The drug is indicated for the treatment of parasitic and anaerobic bacterial infections. Clinical studies have shown that a single 500 mg dose of ATI-1501 achieves equivalent systemic drug levels to a 500 mg metronidazole tablet under both fasted and fed conditions. The formulation has been optimized to improve palatability and reduce issues with non-compliance associated with the bitter taste of traditional tablet forms[2][5][6].
