Likzone

Likzone is a generic brand of ceftriaxone sodium, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic developed and manufactured by Uni-Tech Pharmaceutical (Pvt.) Ltd. in Pakistan. It is a broad-spectrum bactericidal agent that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Specifically, it binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are enzymes essential for the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls. This leads to cell wall instability and subsequent bacterial lysis. Likzone is approved for the treatment of a wide range of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including lower respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections, uncomplicated gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial septicemia, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, and meningitis. It is also used for surgical prophylaxis.
