Overview

Limbal stem cell-derived exosomes (LSC-Exo) are an investigational biologic therapy being developed by the **Iran University of Medical Sciences** for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye syndrome (DED). These exosomes are membrane-bound vesicles secreted by limbal stem cells that facilitate the intercellular transfer of bioactive molecules, including RNA, proteins, and DNA. When administered as an ophthalmic solution, LSC-Exos are intended to modulate the immune microenvironment of the cornea and stabilize the ocular surface. This therapy is specifically being evaluated for patients who are resistant to conventional artificial tear treatments, aiming to provide a regenerative approach to restoring ocular health.
