Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Limonin glucoside is a major limonoid glucoside found naturally in citrus fruits and juices. It is the water-soluble glucose conjugate of the aglycone limonin. In preclinical research, particularly involving human colon cancer (SW480) cell lines, limonin glucoside has demonstrated anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of apoptotic signaling pathways, specifically by increasing the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and activating caspase-3, which leads to programmed cell death. It is frequently investigated for its potential chemopreventive properties and its synergistic effects when combined with other phytochemicals, such as curcumin, to enhance anti-tumor efficacy.
