Overview

Limosilactobacillus fermentum LF61 is a probiotic strain isolated from human milk, being investigated as a food supplement for improving intestinal and immune health. A double-blind clinical trial in 49 healthy adults showed that daily oral intake for 8 weeks increased serum levels of the antimicrobial peptide LL-37, as well as immunoglobulins IgA, IgG, and IgM. [9] Its mechanism of action is described as a bidirectional regulatory effect on the gut-immune axis. [9] It modulates the gut microbiome by promoting the colonization of beneficial short-chain fatty acid (SCFA)-producing bacteria. [9] The strain has demonstrated a good safety profile in genomic, in-vitro, and pre-clinical toxicity studies. [9] It is being evaluated in a clinical trial for intestinal health. The strain is manufactured by Wecare Probiotics Co., Ltd. [8]
