Overview

*Limosilactobacillus reuteri* AMBV339 is a specific probiotic strain of the species *Limosilactobacillus reuteri* (formerly *Lactobacillus reuteri*) that has been characterized as a riboflavin (Vitamin B2) overproducer. Developed as part of the Humiome microbiome platform by DSM-Firmenich in collaboration with academic partners such as the University of Antwerp, the strain is designed to modulate the gut and vaginal microbiomes. By overproducing riboflavin, AMBV339 aims to increase the local availability of this essential nutrient in the distal intestine and vaginal environment, thereby supporting the growth of beneficial commensal bacteria and improving microbial health. It has been investigated in clinical trials (e.g., the VIAB2L project) both as a standalone intervention and in combination with colon-delivered riboflavin (Humiome B2) to assess its impact on microbial colonization and metabolomic profiles in healthy adult women.
