LINC00173.v1 lentiviral vector is an investigational gene therapy tool designed to overexpress the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00173.v1. In the context of lung squamous cell carcinoma (SQC), LINC00173.v1 acts as an oncogenic driver by functioning as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA). It specifically "sponges" or sequesters microRNA-511-5p (miR-511-5p), which normally suppresses the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A (VEGFA). By inhibiting miR-511-5p, the vector leads to an upregulation of VEGFA, thereby promoting tumor angiogenesis and disease progression. This vector is primarily used in preclinical research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to evaluate the LINC00173.v1/miR-511-5p/VEGFA axis as a potential therapeutic target.
