Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Linderae radix (Wu Yao) is the dried root of Lindera aggregata (Sims) Kosterm., used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is classified as an herb that regulates Qi. The main actions are to move Qi and alleviate pain, warm the kidneys and disperse cold. It is commonly indicated for thoracic and abdominal pain due to congealing cold and Qi stagnation; frequent urination or enuresis of deficiency-cold type; menstrual pain; urinary frequency or incontinence due to kidney yang deficiency or bladder deficiency cold. Its properties are acrid (pungent) and warm, entering the lung, spleen, liver, kidney, gallbladder meridians[1][2][4][5]. The mechanism of action involves promoting circulation of Qi (vital energy), warming internal organs especially the kidneys to dispel coldness and relieve associated symptoms such as pain or urinary disorders[4][5]. Linderae radix is typically used as a decoction or granule extract in herbal formulas.
