Linderalactone is a natural sesquiterpene lactone compound, typically isolated from plants such as *Lindera aggregata*, that is being investigated as a potential therapeutic agent for diabetic nephropathy (DN). It is a small molecule with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties. The compound works by inhibiting macrophage-mediated inflammation through the suppression of the Dectin-1/Syk/CARD9/IRF5/NF-κB signaling pathway. Preclinical studies in mouse models of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes have demonstrated that linderalactone improves renal function and reduces kidney fibrosis and collagen deposition without affecting blood glucose levels. It achieves these effects by reducing the infiltration of inflammatory cells, such as macrophages and neutrophils, into kidney tissue and decreasing the expression of inflammatory cytokines.
