Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flag Bio is developing an mRNA-based cancer vaccine targeting proteins encoded by the Long Interspersed Nuclear Element-1 (LINE-1) retrotransposon. LINE-1 elements are mobile genetic sequences that are typically silenced in healthy somatic cells but become aberrantly activated and expressed in various types of cancer. By delivering mRNA that encodes LINE-1 proteins, the vaccine aims to stimulate the immune system to recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing these neoantigens. This therapeutic candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
