Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The linear DNA COVID-19 vaccine is an experimental **DNA vaccine** developed by Applied DNA Sciences, through LineaRx, in partnership with Takis Biotech and Evvivax for prevention of coronavirus disease 2019. It consists of PCR-produced **linear DNA amplicons** encoding the **receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein** rather than a conventional plasmid DNA backbone. After **intramuscular injection** with **electroporation**, host cells express the spike RBD antigen and induce neutralizing antibody and T-cell responses directed against SARS-CoV-2. The program has been reported in preclinical animal studies including mice, cats, ferrets, and mink; a veterinary-oriented cat version has been referred to as **Lin-COVID-eVax**.
