Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Linezolid + meropenem is a combination antibiotic therapy that pairs two different mechanisms of action. Linezolid is a synthetic oxazolydinone that inhibits protein synthesis by interacting with the 50S ribosomal subunit, while meropenem is a carbapenem antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis. This combination has demonstrated synergistic effects against various bacterial infections, particularly against resistant Staphylococcus strains including linezolid-resistant and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and S. epidermidis.
