Overview

A combination of two antibacterial agents used against Gram-positive infections, particularly in critically ill patients. Linezolid is an oxazolidinone that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by preventing the formation of the initiation complex, binding to the 23S portion of the 50S ribosomal subunit. Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits peptidoglycan polymerization, resulting in inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis and cell death.
