Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Linggui Zhugan decoction granules is a modern pharmaceutical formulation of the classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula Linggui Zhugan Decoction, which consists of four medicinal herbs: Poria, Cinnamomi Ramulus, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma. It is traditionally used to "warm yang and transform phlegm-dampness" and is currently being investigated for the treatment of metabolic disorders, specifically type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) characterized by phlegm-dampness syndrome. The granules are thought to improve insulin sensitivity and glycemic control by modulating the gut microbiota and its associated metabolites, as well as regulating glucose and lipid metabolism pathways. Clinical evaluation is focused on its impact on insulin resistance, fecal microbiota composition, and traditional TCM syndrome scores.
