Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lingguizhugan Decoction is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula composed of four medicinal herbs: *Poria cocos* (Lingzhi), *Cinnamomum cassia* (Guizhi), *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Baizhu), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Gancao). Originating from the ancient text 'Treatise on Febrile Diseases' (Shanghan Lun), it is traditionally used to warm yang, transform phlegm-fluid, and invigorate the spleen to leach out dampness. In modern clinical research, it is primarily investigated for its cardioprotective and metabolic benefits. Specifically, it is studied for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) and associated early renal injury, where it is thought to improve cardiac hemodynamics and protect renal tubular function. Additionally, the decoction is explored for metabolic conditions such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), obesity, and metabolic syndrome by modulating inflammatory pathways and water-sodium metabolism.
