Lingzhi water extract is an aqueous preparation derived from the fruiting body of the *Ganoderma lucidum* mushroom, a staple in traditional medicine. Developed for clinical evaluation by researchers such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supanimit Teekachunhatean at Chiang Mai University, it is primarily investigated as an adjuvant therapy for liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). The extract is rich in bioactive polysaccharides, particularly beta-glucans, which are thought to exert anti-tumor effects through immunomodulation—enhancing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, T-lymphocytes, and macrophages, and stimulating the production of cytokines like IL-2 and IFN-gamma. It may also possess direct cytotoxic properties against cancer cells and provide hepatoprotective benefits. Clinical pilot studies have evaluated its safety and efficacy in improving immune function and quality of life in patients with advanced liver cancer.
