Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lingzhu granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), specifically for patients presenting with the phlegm-dampness syndrome type. The formula is designed to invigorate the spleen and resolve phlegm-dampness, addressing the underlying metabolic and endocrine dysfunctions associated with PCOS. Pharmacological research indicates that Lingzhu granule exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, which improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hyperinsulinemia. Additionally, it has been shown to regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, leading to a reduction in luteinizing hormone (LH) levels and the LH/FSH ratio, thereby promoting follicular development and restoring regular menstrual cycles. It is primarily used in clinical settings in China as an alternative or adjunct to metformin for managing insulin-resistant PCOS.
