Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LINK-001 is a first-in-class anti-necrotic therapeutic being developed by LinkGevity, an AI-driven drug discovery company based at the Babraham Research Campus. The drug is designed to block cellular necrosis—a form of uncontrolled cell death—by preventing the pathological influx of calcium ions into stressed cells. This mechanism is intended to protect tissue integrity in conditions characterized by high levels of cell death, with a primary clinical focus on acute tubular necrosis (ATN) in the kidney. Beyond renal applications, LINK-001 is being developed to address accelerated aging and tissue degeneration, a focus supported by its selection for the NASA/Microsoft Space-Health Program. The therapeutic is part of LinkGevity's Anti-Necrotics™ platform, which has demonstrated approximately 90% necrosis inhibition in validated preclinical models. As of early 2024, LINK-001 has completed preclinical development, with Phase 1 clinical trials anticipated to begin in 2025.
