linvemastat

Linvemastat (FP-020) is a highly potent and selective oral small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 12 (MMP-12), developed by Foresee Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to target inflammatory and fibrotic diseases, including interstitial lung diseases, sarcoidosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and emphysema. MMP-12 is a key immune-fibrotic modulator secreted by macrophages that regulates macrophage, neutrophil, and lung epithelial cell biology; it plays an important role in the pathophysiology of these diseases. Linvemastat has demonstrated favorable efficacy in multiple animal models of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for several indications[1][2][3][4].
