Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Linzole is a branded generic formulation of the oxazolidinone antibiotic linezolid, marketed by SBM Enterprises in India. It is typically available as a 600 mg tablet. Linezolid works by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, which prevents the formation of the functional 70S initiation complex required for bacterial translation. This mechanism effectively inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Linzole is indicated for the treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, including methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant *Enterococcus faecium* (VRE), and nosocomial pneumonia. The product is a finished pharmaceutical formulation approved and marketed in India, often packaged in Alu-Alu blister packs.
