Lipideme

Lipideme is a specialized dietary supplement and medical food formulation primarily marketed for the management of lipedema and chronic venous insufficiency. It consists of a proprietary blend of four bioflavonoids: diosmin, hesperidin, quercetin, and rutin. The mechanism of action involves the stabilization of capillary permeability, improvement of lymphatic drainage, and reduction of inflammatory markers within the adipose tissue and vascular endothelium. Diosmin and hesperidin are well-characterized phlebotonic agents that increase venous tone and protect the microcirculation from inflammatory damage. Quercetin and rutin provide additional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support, potentially mitigating the oxidative stress associated with disordered fat accumulation in lipedema. While marketed as a supplement in the United States, several of its constituent ingredients are regulated as prescription pharmaceuticals in other jurisdictions for the treatment of vascular disorders.
