Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lipidots is a proprietary lipid-based nanoemulsion platform developed by CEA-Leti for the encapsulation and delivery of lipophilic drugs and imaging agents. These nanoparticles consist of a lipid core (typically a mixture of soybean oil and wax) stabilized by a surfactant shell (such as lecithin). Lipidots are designed to improve the solubility, stability, and biodistribution of hydrophobic compounds, such as the photosensitizer m-tetrahydroxyphenylchlorin (mTHPC). In the context of photodynamic therapy (PDT), Lipidots facilitate the accumulation of photosensitizers in tumor tissues, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy while minimizing side effects like skin photosensitivity.
