Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LipidRescue is a proprietary 20% intravenous lipid emulsion developed as an antidote for toxicity caused by lipid-soluble drugs, most notably local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST). The product is designed to rapidly reverse the life-threatening effects of overdoses from local anesthetics and other lipophilic drugs by acting as a "lipid sink," sequestering toxic agents away from target tissues such as the heart and central nervous system. This mechanism reduces the bioavailability of the offending drug at its site of action and facilitates redistribution and metabolism. The kit includes both the emulsion in sufficient quantity for emergency use and a purpose-designed administration set to enable rapid infusion through existing vascular access. Developed by ResQ Pharma, LipidRescue is currently investigational in the United States with an FDA PDUFA date set for June 2, 2025[4][7][9]. It represents a standardized approach to lipid resuscitation therapy (LRT), which has become standard care in LAST management per clinical guidelines[1][5].
