Lipigon LPL activator

The Lipigon LPL activator program is a preclinical drug discovery initiative developed by **Lipigon Pharmaceuticals** in collaboration with **HitGen Inc.** The program focuses on identifying and developing small molecule activators of **lipoprotein lipase (LPL)**, a key enzyme responsible for the hydrolysis of triglycerides in chylomicrons and very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). By enhancing LPL activity, the program aims to lower plasma triglyceride levels and increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, thereby addressing **dyslipidemia** and reducing the risk of **cardiovascular disease**. In 2022, the collaboration successfully identified novel small molecules that activate LPL, serving as lead compounds for further development. Although the program remains in the preclinical stage, Lipigon has indicated that it is not currently allocating active resources to the project, while maintaining the collaboration framework with HitGen for potential future advancement.
