Lipiodol + peptide refers to a specialized Pickering emulsion formulation used in transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The formulation consists of Lipiodol (ethiodized oil) mixed with a hydrophilic chemotherapy solution (containing agents such as doxorubicin, mitoxantrone, or oxaliplatin) and stabilized by Peptuxen, a temperature-sensitive peptide hydrogel. This ultra-stable emulsion is designed to improve the local concentration and retention of chemotherapy within the tumor while providing effective arterial embolization. Developed by the Bishan District People's Hospital, this therapeutic approach is currently being evaluated in Phase 0 clinical trials, often in combination with intratumoral immunotherapy to enhance the anti-tumor immune response.
